How to go to center of Tokyo from Haneda airport

4/15/2016

According to the survey of Japan Tourism Agency, one of the hardest things for tourists in Tokyo is that finding the information about public transportation. Many tourists have difficulties with using public transportations. This is easily understandable because Tokyo transportation is difficult for me, too.

The main way to go to center of Tokyo is taking Yamanote line. The Yamanote line is a railway loop which connects to main stations around center of Tokyo, such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Tokyo. I want to simply explain the way to get there, hoping this will be helpful.

Option 1) Taking Tokyo Monorail

From Haneda airport, take monorail to Hamamatsucho station. At Hamamatsucho station, you can transfer to Yamanote Line.

Option 2) Taking Keikyu line

From Haneda airport, take Keikyu line to Shinagawa station.
At Shinagawa station, you can transfer to Yamanote Line.

Which is easier?

I say, Tokyo Monorail (Option1). Keikyu line is long. There are many trains which are not connected to Shinagawa station. But the Tokyo monorail makes round trips between Haneda airport station and Hamamatsucho station. You can take any trains to go to Hamamatsucho station from Haneda airport.
