10/28/2016

Many Muslim travelers have difficult experiences to find the ways to have Halal foods during their stay in Tokyo.  Awesome Tokyo know the way to make your trip easy!

Halal Friendly Restaurants in Tokyo

One of the exciting parts of visiting Japan is eating Japanese food.  Even people have different religious background, I want travelers to experience our delicious Japanese food culture.  Here, Awesome Tokyo wants to introduce some Halal Friendly Japanese food restaurants.

Sumiyakiya

Sumiyakiya is a restaurant opened in Roppongi, serving Yakiniku, Japanese style BBQ.  I really recommend to eat Yakiniku in Japan if they love meats.  They serve many different parts and kinds of meat.  Moreover, there are salads, noodles, fried-rice, desserts and more on their menu.  This restaurant is guaranteed halal, from meat source to food serving.

Kusumoto

Kusumoto is a restaurant which is certificated as a “Muslim Friendly” by Nippon Asia Halal Association.  This is an authentic gorgeous Japanese restaurant serving Japanese cuisine in Nishi-Azabu.  They offer private rooms with a mat for salat upon customer’s requests.  They have beautiful lunch box to deliver as well.

Minokichi

Minokichi was originally founded in 1716 in Kyoto and has been building a history of Kyoto cuisine.  The branch of this historical restaurant is in TOBU(one of the biggest shopping building in Tokyo) ,and now serving Muslim friendly Kaiseki-Ryori.  Kaiseki-Ryori is traditional multi-course Japanse dinner, served by individual Japanese style trays with beautiful appearances.

These are useful and helpful as they deliver to your house.  However it may be difficult to buy from these stores for travelers since they do not have residential address in Japan.

Where to Buy Halal Foods

Many Muslim travelers have difficult experiences to find the ways to have Halal foods during their stay in Tokyo.  As I introduced in the beginning of this article,  there are “Halal friendly” restaurants in Tokyo.  However, it may be difficult to eat all meals out there during their trips.  It will cost too much and will be closed in mornings and late night.  What do they do?  The best way is buying Halal foods and cooking by themselves at their accommodation.
Awesome Tokyo want to introduce some Halal food shops in Tokyo.

There is a town called Shin-Okubo, where you can access by JR Yamanote Line, one stop from Shinjuku.  There are many people from different countries live in this international town.  One of biggest groups is Muslim.  You will see many Muslim, Indonesian, Nepal and other food restaurants and Halal stores in this town.

Green Nasco

This is one of the biggest Halal food store.  They have rice, groceries, different kinds of meat, beans and many other items.  Only 3 minutes walk from Shin-Okubo station.  Cross the street from Shin Okubo station, turn right at Matsumoto-kiyoshi (see below photos), and you will see this store on your left. They also have take-out Halal Kebab shop and Halal food restaurants next to each other.

Rose Family Store

Another store is just a few meters away from Green Nasco.  Go around the corner of Green Nasco, and Rose Family store is opened on the 2nd floor of the small building.  In this building, there is Masjid on the 4th building.  Rose Family have many different Halal foods including meats, rice, groceries, and pocket wifi rental services.

You can find some other Halal food stores, such as “The Jannat Halal Food” and “Barahi” on the same street.  Most cashiers and customers are Muslims.  You may be able to ask useful information from them if you have chances to talk with them.
