Many places also have great summer markets where visitors can come during the day and eat local food, check out interesting merchandise, listen to live music and just walk around and enjoy the warm weather. Hills Marche

Enjoy the delicious produce at the Hills Marche in Roppongi open every Saturday. This market has seasonal fruits and vegetables with farmers visiting from the surrounding areas. Vendors truly take pride in their products and are thrilled to be able to sell directly to consumers. Roppongi is also an international hub, which means it’s a great place to feel an international vibe and enjoy meeting new people, too! Their hours are usually 10:00am - 2:00pm but may vary.

Earth Garden Summer

An exciting two-day event held in July, Earth Garden Summer is a great way to spend a weekend with family or friends. An ecological-living mecha, musical performances play in the background while you shop for seasonal foods and sustainable products. Hachioji Summer Market

Located on the west side of Tokyo, this is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a different side of the city. Local vendors sell Japanese traditional summer flowers such as morning glories, a variety of food and edo furin; cooling, colorful windchimes perfect for this time of year. The Yukata Tanabata-matsuri Festival is also happening at the same time, so you can enjoy riding around on a rickshaw in an environment reminiscent of the Edo period. Held in July! It is a great place to enjoy all of the exciting things about Japanese summer!

United Nations University Summer Market

This market offers over forty stalls of fresh seasonal goods including fruits, vegetables, breads and pastries. One blogger claims this market is a great place to pick up rock salt from various parts of Japan! A great way to spend a sunny Saturday or Sunday with friends. Kotsukaikan Marche

This market is a little bit smaller than some of the other ones on this list, but with every week highlighting a different region of Japan it’s a great way to experience the bounty of the country. Delicious seasonal fruits and vegetables await you every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 am - 6:00 pm!
